Abstract

Large Rove beetles (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Staphylininae) of the genus Pilonthus Stephens, 1829 from Uttarakhand, India are studied and 25 species reported in the present paper. The diagnostic characters of the each species are also provided for easy identification. All these species are recorded for the first time from the state as this forms the pioneer work on Rove beetles of Uttarakhand, India. Philonthus leptocerus Fauvel is being reported for the first time from India.
